Reminders Before Starting Your Application:

• All information marked with an * is required.
• Entry fee is $12,875 and a minimum $2,000 deposit is required. ( A portion of your entry fee is tax deductible.)
• You will need information about:
• You and your co-driver: addresses, contact info, event history
• Your vehicle: year, make, model, VIN# (if applicable), Chassis#, etc.
• Vehicle description and history: any racing and/or rallying history and anecdotes related to the car’s acquisition, restoration, history and unique features
• Vehicle photos: multiple hi-resolution, digital photo(s) of your car – front 3/4 shots preferred

Please Note:

• Applications with incomplete Co-Driver information will not be considered for entry.
• Changes in Co-Driver MUST be approved prior to arrival in Phoenix.
• No one under the age of 18 may participate, in any capacity, on the Copperstate Overland.

Anyone who accompanies an entrant in a separate vehicle, for any reason (mechanical assistance, towing assistance, photography, etc), is considered a crew member. All crew members must adhere to the rules and regulations of Copperstate. All Crew members must be over the age of 18. Crew packages will be strictly limited and will be reviewed prior to acceptance. We reserve the right to limit the number of crew and support vehicles. In addition we reserve the right to expel any entrant failing to formally register a crew member. Copperstate cannot guarantee room availability for your Crew if the request is made after your application has been accepted.

In keeping with the spirit of a vintage car rally, model year 1973 and older sports, racing, and grand touring cars are eligible. Cars newer than 1973 cannot be substituted for any reason, even after the rally begins.

Clones, reproductions, tributes, continuation-series cars, and recreations are not eligible for participation on the Copperstate Overland. All cars are subject to the same standards for admission and acceptance.

Tell us about your car. This information will be used to help the selection committee when evaluating your application and will be used in the Route Book. Be thorough. Include any racing and/or rallying history as well as anecdotes related to the car. Also be sure to include acquisition or restoration information, general history, unique features or anything else you think we need to know.

EXAMPLE:

“This Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce by Zagato (#06184) is just one of only 16 built has a known and continuous history. Originally purchased in March 1958 by Pasquale Tacci of Sciacca, Sicily, it was first entered in the Targa Florio in May 1958, where it was driven by Taormina Badassare and Pasquale Tacci. It was subsequently tuned by the famed Italian tuner, Virgilio Conrero, finishing 2nd in class and 14th overall in the 1960 Targa Florio, followed by a third appearance at the Targa Floria in 1962, and a first overall in the Coppa Nissena (1958). #06184 underwent a complete restoration in 2007/2008 and was displayed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance in 2009 as well as at The Amelia Island Concours in 2014. The car currently resides in NYC and is driven almost weekly.”

Although submitting an alternate vehicle for consideration is not required, doing so might increase your chances of acceptance. Please note that you must be willing and able to bring your alternate vehicle on the Copperstate if the Selection Committee accepts your alternate vehicle over your primary vehicle for entry on the rally.

To assist in the evaluation of your vehicle and to prepare the route book, please tell is about your car. Please be as thorough as possible. Include any racing and/or rallying history in the detailed description as well as an anecdotes related to the car’s acquisition, restoration, history and unique features. NOTE: YOUR APPLICATION MAY BE RETURNED IF AN INSUFFICIENT DESCRIPTION IS PROVIDED.

A current, digital photo of your car is required. Images will be used in the route book as well as in advertisements and event publicity. We require high-resolution, digital photos of your car. Please upload multiple photos of your vehicle. JPEG photos work best and the image size should be at least 2MB and no larger than 5MB. A photo taken with MOST current Smartphones should be of high enough quality.

Here are some basic tips on How to Photograph Your Car:

• Take the picture where there is lots of light to show off the details.
• Stand so that you can see both the front and the side at the same time, at a 3/4 view.
• Turn your camera so the picture is taller than it is wide.
• Center your car in the middle of the frame.
• Step back at least 15 or 20 feet, and leave extra space framing the car.

Advanced Tips

Pay attention to what is in the background. Use your favorite scenic overlook, a manicured garden or park, or a wall covered in ivy.

Pick the best time of day for the best light. Early morning or late evening, when the sun isn’t directly overhead is best. A day with a bit of cloud cover is even better because the clouds will help soften the shadows.

Get at the same height as your car. Somewhere around door handle height is good. It makes your car look more heroic when you aren’t looking down at it.

Entry Fee $12,875

The entry fee for the Copperstate Overland is $12,875 and includes all meals and double occupancy lodging for the driver and co-driver starting from the Drivers’ Dinner.

PLEASE NOTE: Availability of Crew Packages may be limited. In some cases these additional rooms may not be in the primary hotel.
