Not to mention the sheer number of man hours it takes our volunteers to plan the adventure.
The 2026 route for our 12th Overland year will take us through some of Arizona’s most iconic high desert and mountain terrain. We’ll begin and end in Carefree, Arizona, with the journey winding through historic ranch country, mountain mining towns, pine forests, and rugged backcountry trails.
Participants can expect a mix of scenic overland routes, remote landscapes, and classic Arizona adventure as we travel through areas including Rock Springs, Camp Verde, Crown King, Prescott, and beyond.
While we’re keeping the full route under wraps for now, this year’s trip will give drivers a true taste of central Arizona overlanding.
Plan for your vehicle to arrive in the Carefree/Cave Creek area prior to departure, with additional logistics and detailed route information to be shared once accepted.
We will accept up to 20- 22 vehicles depending on accommodations at our remote locations.
Applications are due Monday, June 22nd, 2026.
The Copperstate Overland is blessed to have the involvement of many dedicated people and organizations, and in no area is that dedication more apparent than when mechanical assistance is needed. We will travel with a team of specialized mechanics, as well as volunteers whose job it is to assist with any needed repairs.
Although we provide mechanical assistance on the road, a properly prepared vehicle is the responsibility of the driver. All accepted cars will be required to undergo a vehicle safety inspection prior to arrival. A certified mechanic is required to inspect your vehicle and sign-off that it is in rally ready condition.
